Kevin Zhou is a partner at Bennett Jones, where his practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions and corporate finance. He advises a broad range of clients—including private equity sponsors, institutional investors and strategic acquirers—on complex domestic and cross-border transactions.

Overview

Kevin's experience spans a wide variety of deal structures, such as leveraged buyouts, management buyouts, growth equity investments and carve-out transactions. He is adept at navigating the intricacies of cross-border M&A and brings insight into transactions involving multi-jurisdictions, notably the United States and the Asia-Pacific region.

Known for his pragmatic approach, Kevin prioritizes aligning legal strategies with his clients' business goals to ensure efficient and effective outcomes in high-stakes transactions.

He advises clients across diverse industries such as energy, infrastructure, technology, manufacturing and mining. Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams at Bennett Jones, Kevin delivers comprehensive legal solutions that address the unique challenges and opportunities of each transaction.

Kevin is fluent in Mandarin. Earlier in his legal career, he previously practiced at the Shanghai office of an international law firm, where he advised multinational clients on inbound and outbound transactions involving China.

Client Work

Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners (MSIP), as Canadian counsel, in MSIP's acquisition of a 47.5% interest in the Greenlight Electricity Centre, a C$4.6-billion,932 MW combined-cycle power generation project in Alberta set to power a landmark C$13 billion data centre development being advanced by Meta Platforms. The Centre is co-owned by MSIP with Pembina Pipeline Corporation (47.5%) and Kineticor Asset Management (5%).

TriWest Capital Partners in its partnership with Ocean Brands, a manufacturer, marketer and distributor of food products

Hillcore Industrial in its acquisition of Meridian Energy, a provider of energy solutions, power generation and operational support services across Western Canada

Whitewater Management in its acquisition of Orion Water Solutions, a leading provider of sustainable water treatment and wastewater management solutions
