Overview

Tinashe has a general corporate commercial law practice, with a focus on private mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, corporate governance and commercial transactions.

Tinashe earned his Juris Doctor from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia. Prior to law school, Tinashe completed a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, with distinction, from the University of Alberta. Throughout his legal studies at the University of British Columbia, Tinashe interned at the British Columbia Securities Commission for almost two years, served as co-president of the Black Law Students’ Association, chaired the Law Career Services Office Advisory Committee, and worked as assistant business manager of the University of British Columbia Law Review.

Prior to his legal studies, Tinashe worked for Deloitte Canada, Sysco Canada, and Employment and Social Development Canada, which helped develop his skills in business analysis and public sector service delivery. Tinashe is actively involved in his community through academic and mentorship initiatives and has been recognized with awards including the Deloitte Canada Bloom Scholarship, CPA Education Foundation New Canadian Achievement Award, and the BBPA BMO Scholarship. Tinashe speaks Shona at a conversational level. Before becoming an associate at Bennett Jones, Tinashe summered and articled with the firm.

•  Colter Energy in the sale of its Canadian business operations to a subsidiary of TerraVest Industries
•  Teine Energy in its C$400-million sale of the Chauvin Infrastructure Assets to Gibson Energy
•  Westech Industrial in its sale to Hoskin Group, a portfolio company of River Associates
